PREFACE TO THE SPECIAL ISSUE
Abstract
During Feb. 5-7, 2016 a National Conference was organized at the Department of Mathematics, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi as a part of the Centennial year celebration of the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. The Banaras Hindu University was found by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in 1916 on the land donated by the Kashi Naresh (King of Varanasi). Mahamana was a prominent lawyer and an Indian independence activist, who considered education as the primary means for achieving a national awakening.
Though the conference was national, several prominent scientists from other countries participated and delivered lectures in the conference. During three days conference, 3 Plenary Lectures, 23 invited talks, and 48 papers were presented from a wide spectrum of topics including theoretical results, algorithmic, and applications.
This special issue of Yugoslav Journal of Operations Research contains selected refereed papers presented in the conference. The papers focus on semi-definite linear complementarity problems, set-valued optimization problems, convex quadratic optimization problems, nonsmooth multiobjective optimization problems, fractional programming problems, semi-infinite optimization problems, and application of operations research in advertisement planning in media.
The editors would like to take this opportunity to thank all the contributors and reviewers for their excellent work during the editing process of this special issue
